CUHKFAA Chan Chun Ha Secondary School is a co-educational aided secondary school in Ma On Shan, founded in 2000 by the Education Foundation of the Federation of Alumni Associations of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Its motto, Broad Learning and Propriety, encourages intellectual breadth and disciplined conduct. The school emphasizes creativity, independent thinking, community service, life education, links with CUHK alumni networks and balanced whole-person development.

Medium of Instruction & Curriculum

Chinese is the primary Medium of Instruction (MOI).

Curriculum: Secondary education comprises three years of junior secondary and three years of senior secondary education leading to the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination.

Teaching Language Policy: To be in line with the EDB MOI fine-tuning policy, English is used as the medium of instruction (MOI) for Science and Mathematics in all S.1 to S.3 classes. Extended Learning Activities are conducted in English in Integrated Humanities and Citizenship, Economics and Society. Meanwhile, Putonghua is also used as the MOI in Chinese lessons in all S.1 to S.3 classes.

Secondary One Admission

The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System is Hong Kong's official mechanism for distributing subsidized Secondary One places to primary school graduates. The allocation operates in two distinct, consecutive phases. First, the Discretionary Places (DP) stage allows students to apply directly to individual schools based on academic and interview merits. Second, remaining places are funneled into the Central Allocation (CA) stage, which is subdivided into Part A (unrestricted, territory-wide choices) and Part B (restricted, district-based choices). School Fees

This is an aided school, the most common type of secondary school in Hong Kong. Aided schools account for approximately 76% of all secondary schools and receive government funding to provide free secondary education. No school fee is charged. By comparison, around 12% are DSS schools, 6% are government schools, and 5% are private schools. Only DSS and private schools generally charge school fees.

School Facilities

Facilities such as ’Charles Kuen Kao Future Classroom’, the lecture theatres, the multi-functional exhibition gallery, the computerized library, the student activity room, the computer-assisted learning rooms and special rooms are provided in the standard millennium school premises. To facilitate the use of IT in learning and teaching, all classrooms and special rooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards, computers, visualizers and multimedia learning facilities.
