HKSYC & IA Chan Nam Chong Memorial College is a co-educational aided secondary school in Kwai Chung, founded in 1979 by the Hong Kong Sze Yap Commercial and Industrial Association. Named in memory of Chan Nam Chong, the school serves students near Cho Yiu Estate with a broad local curriculum. It emphasizes whole-person education, moral development, language learning, life planning, student support and community-minded growth in the Kwai Tsing school network.

Medium of Instruction & Curriculum

Chinese is the primary Medium of Instruction (MOI).

Curriculum: Secondary education comprises three years of junior secondary and three years of senior secondary education leading to the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination.

Teaching Language Policy: Our language policy places students' learning effectiveness as our major concern. We firmly believe that the mother language is the best medium for learning, eliminating all of the learning difficulties and obstacles caused by the use of second language, thereby enhancing students' learning motivation and interest. To build up an English-rich environment, reading across curriculum, and English weeks, etc.

Secondary One Admission

The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System is Hong Kong's official mechanism for distributing subsidized Secondary One places to primary school graduates. The allocation operates in two distinct, consecutive phases. First, the Discretionary Places (DP) stage allows students to apply directly to individual schools based on academic and interview merits. Second, remaining places are funneled into the Central Allocation (CA) stage, which is subdivided into Part A (unrestricted, territory-wide choices) and Part B (restricted, district-based choices). School Fees

This is an aided school, the most common type of secondary school in Hong Kong. Aided schools account for approximately 76% of all secondary schools and receive government funding to provide free secondary education. No school fee is charged. By comparison, around 12% are DSS schools, 6% are government schools, and 5% are private schools. Only DSS and private schools generally charge school fees.

Our school aims at providing education opportunities to teenagers, instilling knowledge and truth into them and teaching them the good qualities of “loyalty, forgiveness, diligence, and dexterity“, and thus promoting the sense of propriety, justice, honesty and honour in the traditional Chinese culture.
