Diocesan Boys' School is one of Hong Kong's oldest and most prestigious boys' schools, with origins dating to 1869. Now a DSS Anglican school in Kowloon City, DBS is known for English-medium education, boarding tradition, academic excellence, music, sports and leadership development. Its mission emphasizes a liberal education based on Christian principles and whole-person growth, while its Argyle Street campus remains a landmark in Hong Kong secondary education.

✪ This school participates in “DSS Expansion”, under which the Education Bureau allows participating DSS schools to increase the number and size of classes on a trial basis to admit more non-local students holding student visas on a self-financing basis.

Medium of Instruction & Curriculum

English is the primary Medium of Instruction (MOI).

Curriculum: The secondary curriculum includes the local HKDSE pathway and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Students may enter an IB Bridging Programme in Grade 10 before the two-year IBDP in Grades 11 and 12, while other senior students follow HKDSE.

Teaching Language Policy: English is the official medium of instruction across Grades 7 to 12. The school has established three multi-media learning centres to facilitate language teaching and learning. Putonghua is offered to Grades 7 to 9 students to cultivate their listening and speaking skills. Moreover, in both Chinese Language and English Language, the 'Extensive Reading Scheme' is implemented to develop students' biliteracy and trilingualism skills.

Secondary One Admission

As a Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) school that does not participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System, the school manages its Secondary One admissions independently. Parents should apply directly to the school and refer to its official website for application dates, admission criteria, required documents and interview arrangements. Applicants are not restricted by school net. Parents who accept an offer from the school will be required to complete the relevant confirmation procedures and give up any subsidised Secondary One place available through the SSPA System.
