Fukien Secondary School (Siu Sai Wan) is a co-educational aided secondary school in Siu Sai Wan founded in 1998 by the Hong Kong Fukien Chamber of Commerce Education Fund. Its motto, In Search of Truthfulness and Perfection, reflects a focus on integrity, self-improvement and Chinese cultural grounding. The school promotes a caring campus culture, whole-person education, language development and a broad curriculum for students in the Chai Wan and Eastern District area.

Medium of Instruction & Curriculum

Chinese is the primary Medium of Instruction (MOI).

Curriculum: Secondary education comprises three years of junior secondary and three years of senior secondary education leading to the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination.

Teaching Language Policy: The school places great importance on cultivating students' 'biliteracy and trilingualism.' Putonghua is used as the medium of instruction in junior secondary. The English curriculum aims to enhance students' proficiency in English and employs thematic teaching to develop students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Furthermore, the school offers English as the medium of instruction for junior secondary mathematics and science courses, as well as for senior secondary science courses.

Secondary One Admission

The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System is Hong Kong's official mechanism for distributing subsidized Secondary One places to primary school graduates. The allocation operates in two distinct, consecutive phases. First, the Discretionary Places (DP) stage allows students to apply directly to individual schools based on academic and interview merits. Second, remaining places are funneled into the Central Allocation (CA) stage, which is subdivided into Part A (unrestricted, territory-wide choices) and Part B (restricted, district-based choices). This is an aided school, the most common type of secondary school in Hong Kong. Aided schools account for approximately 76% of all secondary schools and receive government funding to provide free secondary education. No school fee is charged. Special rooms in the school include an iCenter, a multi-purpose foyer, a multi-media History-Geography room, a studio for Campus Radio and TV, a Students Activity Centre, an English Corner, a Computer Room, five Laboratories, an Arts Room, a Home Technology Room and a Library. All classrooms and special rooms are equipped with computers, visualizer, audio system and wireless networking, etc. To further enhance learning and teaching effectiveness, tablets are provided and free Wifi6 is available on the school premises.
