Ko Lui Secondary School is a co-educational aided secondary school in Kwun Tong, founded in 1971 by the Kochow and Luichow Residents Association. Guided by the motto Rightness and Responsibility, the school emphasizes integrity, civic duty and steady personal growth. Its Wo Hong Path campus provides a local secondary curriculum, language learning, moral and national education, student support, service and co-curricular activities for young people in Kwun Tong.

Medium of Instruction & Curriculum

Chinese is the primary Medium of Instruction (MOI).

Curriculum: Secondary education comprises three years of junior secondary and three years of senior secondary education leading to the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination.

Teaching Language Policy: In S.1-S.3, English Language is taught in groups according to students' abilities. In S.1-S.3, there is a group of students using Putonghua as MOI in Chinese Language lessons. In S.1 and S.2, a particular class, English is used to go through the relevant subject concepts and contents in Citizenship, Economics and Society / Life and Society and Science that have already been taught through mother tongue. In S.3, a particular class, some topics in Biology, Geography, and History will be reviewed in English.

Secondary One Admission

The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System is Hong Kong's official mechanism for distributing subsidized Secondary One places to primary school graduates. The allocation operates in two distinct, consecutive phases. First, the Discretionary Places (DP) stage allows students to apply directly to individual schools based on academic and interview merits. Second, remaining places are funneled into the Central Allocation (CA) stage, which is subdivided into Part A (unrestricted, territory-wide choices) and Part B (restricted, district-based choices). School Fees

This is an aided school, the most common type of secondary school in Hong Kong. Aided schools account for approximately 76% of all secondary schools and receive government funding to provide free secondary education. No school fee is charged. By comparison, around 12% are DSS schools, 6% are government schools, and 5% are private schools. Only DSS and private schools generally charge school fees.
