Lam Tai Fai College is a DSS EMI co-educational secondary school in Sha Tin, founded in 2004 by the Lam Tai Fai Charitable Foundation. Guided by the motto Multiple Intelligences, Perseverance and Social Responsibility, the college is distinctive for its focus learning areas in sports development, art and fashion design, innovative technology, health education and Chinese culture. It supports academically ambitious and talented students through a broad, English-rich curriculum.

Medium of Instruction & Curriculum

English is the primary Medium of Instruction (MOI).

Curriculum: Secondary education comprises three years of junior secondary and three years of senior secondary education leading to the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination.

Teaching Language Policy: Our College is an EMI school. Not only are the lessons taught in English, our morning assemblies, weekly assemblies, daily announcements and school activities are mainly conducted in English to provide an authentic environment for language learning. To enhance our students' Putonghua proficiency, not only is Putonghua taught in junior secondary, but the school also organizes regular Putonghua activities.

Secondary One Admission

As a Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) school that does not participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System, the school manages its Secondary One admissions independently. Parents should apply directly to the school and refer to its official website for application dates, admission criteria, required documents and interview arrangements. Applicants are not restricted by school net. Parents who accept an offer from the school will be required to complete the relevant confirmation procedures and give up any subsidised Secondary One place available through the SSPA System.

School Facilities

The new Learning and Activity Complex, which consists of a heated indoor Swimming Pool, a Learning Resources Centre, a Multi-Purpose Stadium and a Cafeteria was officially opened in 2010. To prepare students for the future challenges, the School gave the New Annex a facelift in 2021 to provide an Innovation and Technology hub which houses a Creative Media Studio, a Maker Lab and an A. I. Lab for student technophiles to experiment with their interdisciplinary knowledge, computational thinking skills and innovative ideas. Committed to nurturing art elite students and cultivating promising artists, the School anticipates the Grand Opening of The Arts and Culture Development Centre in 2026. The new landmark will feature an Art Gallery, an Art and Fashion Centre and a Theatre where students’ talents in visual arts, fashion design, music, dance and performing arts will be showcased. This cultural hub aims to foster a thriving arts and culture environment where creativity, artistic expressions and cultural exchange activities will be encouraged.

Facilities for supporting students with Special Educational Needs: Accessible lift, Accessible toilet and Screen Reader and Speech-to-text software will be provided.
