Medium of Instruction & Curriculum
Chinese is the primary Medium of Instruction (MOI).
Curriculum: Secondary education comprises three years of junior secondary and three years of senior secondary education leading to the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination.
Teaching Language Policy: Efforts have been being put on biliteracy and trilingualism. Generally, All-Round Language Learning Activities are regularly scheduled to enhance the English and Chinese proficiency of students. Students of higher abilities are streamed in regular Chinese and English classes. As for the English-medium Extended Learning Activities (ELA) implemented in S.1-S.3, four subjects are involved. These include English, Integrated Science, Life and Society and Home Economics. English is used in conducting the ELA with the intention of expanding the English exposure of students. English speaking day is held every cycle to increase students' exposure to English.
Secondary One Admission
The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System is Hong Kong's official mechanism for distributing subsidized Secondary One places to primary school graduates. The allocation operates in two distinct, consecutive phases. First, the Discretionary Places (DP) stage allows students to apply directly to individual schools based on academic and interview merits. Second, remaining places are funneled into the Central Allocation (CA) stage, which is subdivided into Part A (unrestricted, territory-wide choices) and Part B (restricted, district-based choices). The table below summarises past years’ allocation figures, including DP places, Central Allocation Part A and Part B places, reserved places, and total places.
| Year | DP | CA:A | CA:B | Resv | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2020 | 50 | 3 | 26 | 8 | 132 |
| 2021 | 40 | 2 | 10 | 8 | 132 |

School Fees
This is an aided school, the most common type of secondary school in Hong Kong. Aided schools account for approximately 76% of all secondary schools and receive government funding to provide free secondary education. No school fee is charged. By comparison, around 12% are DSS schools, 6% are government schools, and 5% are private schools. Only DSS and private schools generally charge school fees.
