Medium of Instruction & Curriculum
English is the primary Medium of Instruction (MOI).
Curriculum: The curriculum combines school-based junior learning, HKDSE and international pathways. Forms 1 to 2 follow a school-based curriculum, Form 3 and Form 4 include integrated HKDSE or IGCSE preparation, and Forms 5 to 6 offer HKDSE or GCE A-Level.
Teaching Language Policy: The school has around 60% of students from about 40 countries, and English is used as the common language of communication as well as medium of instruction in all subjects (except second language). All students study English and Chinese as a second language.
Secondary One Admission
As a Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) school that does not participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System, the school manages its Secondary One admissions independently. Parents should apply directly to the school and refer to its official website for application dates, admission criteria, required documents and interview arrangements. Applicants are not restricted by school net. Parents who accept an offer from the school will be required to complete the relevant confirmation procedures and give up any subsidised Secondary One place available through the SSPA System.
School Fees
This is a Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) school. DSS schools account for approximately 12% of all secondary schools in Hong Kong. They receive government subsidies but may charge school fees to support their educational services, programmes and facilities. The annual school fee is shown below. Please refer to the Education Bureau’s Fees Certificate for the approved fee and payment details.
School Mission & Governance
We envisage our school as a learning community where quality education, based on Christian beliefs and values, is offered in a joyful and stimulating setting. We believe that the foundation of this learning community is based on the joint partnership among teachers, parents and students. We also believe that students should take an active role in serving and caring for their community. Social service training is given to all students in the YHKCC. They are required to serve in the school and community every year to develop a sense of personal responsibility and a dedication to fostering social welfare.
